Completed a dozen marathons and a handful of 50 mile ultras.

Consistent aerobic and strength training.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Sub 1:35 in half marathon.  Then might consider taking a shot at full marathon again.

Personal:

I started more dedicated running and racing in my thirties.  Eventually I developed symptomatic bradycardia and SVT which required a cardiac pacemaker implant and a cardiac cath ablation.  It has taken a long time to get back to running consistently again.  Counting my blessings and trying to remain more balanced with fitness.

AM: Easy paced 7.25 mi run incorporating some hills (8:17 avg) + Strength training.

PM: Easy 7.5 mi run outside over a very hilly course (7:52 avg).  Sunny with temps in the teens.  I took the advice of my fellow bloggers and adding some clothes and g-pa's old wool mittens to my outfit.  The additions made a huge difference.  Thanks for the advice Dave, Jeff, and Bill!

Yes, wool gloves will do the trick. I got some possum-merino wool gloves in New Zealand last month, and they have worked wonders when running in the cold.

Jeff, seriously, I was a little scared for my fingers the last time it happpened. I could hardly move them and had no feeling in a couple. I ran them under warm water and it felt like it was boiling water! Definitely learned my lesson on taking the cold, wind, and wet combo serious.

You have to be careful running them under water. People burn themselves because their hands are numb and they can't tell the water is scalding. The fact that you had sensation to complain about the temp means they weren't too bad.
