Consistent aerobic and strength training.

Christie Clinic Half Marathon 4/27/24

Long-Term Running Goals:

Sub 1:35 in half marathon.  Then might consider taking a shot at full marathon again.

Personal:

I started more dedicated running and racing in my thirties.  Eventually I developed symptomatic bradycardia and SVT which required a cardiac pacemaker implant and a cardiac cath ablation.  It has taken a long time to get back to running consistently again.  Counting my blessings and trying to remain more balanced with fitness.

AM:  LP 18 mi with a couple TP miles mixed in (6:30 avg) to blow off stored energy and did 7 strides during last two miles (7:35 avg, 130 HR avg).  My butt was dragging the last three miles, but my heart rate remained very tame.  I only had water to drink before and during run.  Left calf was tight first two miles, but then no problem.  Temps in low 50s and foggy.

Great bit of running this week! Good job on this nice long run. Glad the calf relaxed.

This increased mileage is going to really show up as an improvement in your future races.

Thank you. I had to put in the long one early because I'm on daddy duty over the weekend. My wife calls it "bonding time". Have a great weekend!

Nice run! When's your next marathon?

From Robert on Fri, Sep 05, 2008 at 17:07:32

If all holds together then I might run a small marathon in Mason City, IA the last weekend in Oct. There's a 10 mile race here at the end of Sept. I'm thinking about as well. I plan to run Boston next year. That's about it. Except for Boston, kind of boring eh?
